Project 2: motion, sequence, time...

"-- displacement of the images when affected by the motion of the water as their motion could represent the commotion of a drowning swimmer and the repetition of calling out to be helped by the inexistent rescuers." --Lily

"Play with the idea of taking a 2 dimensional photo into a 3 dimensional, while at the same time making it look like they were actually moving. I built this big connection of cylinders with  ball bearings in the middle attached to plastic disks so the cylinders could spin. --Nicki

"Interactive... I was exploring the concept of Doors... Almost everything on the piece is movable... spin... flick... twirls... pull back... spin... fluid motion of anguish... [like] books that you opened and got to physically interact with." --Christine

"Newtonian physics has changed the way I look at the world. It seems like there is an equation for everything. I feel the importance of the instantaneous in every action. Also, the mechanical behavior of the world feels more complex and harder for me to grasp... my understanding of the world suddenly seems more roughly connected. --how the more linear Newtonian perception has become 'outdated' in light of relativity... --Lauren

"...involves negative feelings...  two white boxes drawn and doodled on... a candle trying to balance itself, see-sawing back and forth... represents emotion and stress... impatient  because the candle is taking forever to burn out... more and more anxious... finally... song... surprise...  shock... humorous tone... relief..." --Elma
