The images associated with this project are derived from a series of oil paintings.
The images include references to a variety of symbols and styles derived from an assortment of cross-cultural traditions.
Each image is based on
one letter
of the Hebrew Alphabet.
There are at least two forms of a letter in each image,
both print and script.
Five paintings contain four letter forms
because each of those letters have a sophit,
a different form for the letter when it appears
at the end of a word.
When all the paintings are lined up
they extend about 33 feet,
that's about 10 meters.
The paintings took nearly three years to complete,
that is the actual painting on 18" x 20" panels.
The concept was mulling around for years...
