Hypertext Concept and Practice

an attempt to observe/experience the form/content of electronic computer information data structure/systems as an interface/metaphor in relation with the human existential/experiential author/audience.

Or this is using hypertext to be about the stuff going on between human networks via computer networks.

Or it is about aspects digital media as a medium of communication and expression.

I am engaging the consideration that the ideas and practice of network system/structures exemplified by internet/hypertext may have an effect on thought process as we know it.

I am exploring the idea that hypertext and network concepts may inform our thought process and vocabulary about complexity and extend familiarity with system/structures in general.

I am hoping that the concept and practice of hypertext may inform our thought processes regarding complexity and communication. I am hoping that it will extend our familiarity and appreciation of more flexible, less rigid system/structures of ideas and behaviors. Complexity and flexibility are characteristics that lend life interest. It seems fear of nothingness and nonsense instills fear of complexity and flexibility.

So, maybe hypertext is a useful as concept and practice. Maybe it is useful to understand complexity and flexibility as a way of avoiding nihilism and destruction. (humm?)

in practice

Maybe my relationship with hypertext is similar to the relationship of painter to canvas.
Maybe data would be the pigments, code and software the binder and oil.
Maybe the internet is the studio, gallery and storage shed.

Maybe the process of building and preparing the canvas is necessary to the painting.
(A ready-made canvas was built somewhere, must still be acquired and still has characteristics of canvas.) Maybe the paint surface doesn't have to be a canvas like the hypertext doesn't need to be html://.

Maybe the painter doesn't have to understand the canvas to use it. But relating with the properties of the canvas, its construction, its surface and its dimensions is present throughout the existence of the painting.

(I have an obsession with the edges of canvases when I paint.)

The dimensions and structure of hypertext/canvas is all over the place and no place.
